The
French consulate will no longer be accepting the old Democratic Republic of
Congo
passport after the 31st of December. They require the Biometric
Congolese passport with a chip in order to issue the Schengen visa.
How to Apply
New Visa Appointment system at the Consulate General of France in Johannesburg
With effect from 1st November 2008, every applicant (6 years old and above)
that resides in the provinces of Gauteng, Kwazulu natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga,
Northwest and Freestate is required to apply in person at the office of the
Consulate General of France in Johannesburg. The Consulate General’s address
is: Standard Bank Building, 3rd Floor, 191 Jan Smuts avenue, Parktown North,
Johannesburg
Prior to applying in person at the office of the General Consulate of France,
applicants are required to schedule an appointment. Applications will not be
accepted without an appointment. Applicants wishing to apply for a
Schengen visa to travel to France are required to submit their applications
after taking a prior appointment online at
http://fr.vfsglobal.za.com. The Internet facility is available
24x7. Applicants can call our helpline number at +27 (0) 82 234 4433; the
phone-in facility is available 0800-1500, Monday-Friday. Appointment can be
scheduled online by the applicant only; it cannot be scheduled at the call
center.
There will be an
appointment scheduling service charge of R110.00 inclusive of VAT levied per
application over and above the visa fees. Appointment fee is not payable by
children under six years of age, their parents will submit for them. The
appointment scheduling service charge is payable by cash deposit in advance at
any Nedbank branch or by online credit card option.

- Please note that applicants are required to use the main
applicants passport number as the reference number when
making a deposit.
( IF APPOINTMENT IS NOT TAKEN WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF PAYMENT, THE PAYMENT
WILL BE FORFEITED. APPLICANT WILL HAVE TO MAKE A FRESH PAYMENT )
Applicants need to
wait 24 hours after depositing the service fee to be able to schedule an
appointment.
The visa fee is
payable in cash (in Rand) equivalent at the Consulate General, on the day of
the appointment.
If you are unable to schedule an
appointment kindly check the following procedures -
i.
Please allow 24
hours from the date of payment to schedule appointment. Cash deposits made on
Friday or the day before public holiday will be updated on the next working day
for the applicant to schedule an appointment
ii.
Cash deposit
has been made in full i.e. R110 or multiples of 110 as per the number of
applicants (R220 for 2 applicants, R330 for 3 applicants and so on)
iii.
Appointment
scheduling service charge is R110.00 inclusive of VAT levied per application
over and above the visa fees.The
visa fee should NOT be credited in A/C number 1454 092 688. The visa fee
is payable in cash in the
Rand
equivalent at the Consulate General on the day of the appointment. Kindly

ONLY CASH
DEPOSITS AND ONLINE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT
are accepted. Electronic
transfers and cheque payments are not accepted

Passport number
should be used as Reference number while making payment. Incase of multiple
applicants, the passport number of the primary applicant should be used as
Reference number. Reference number must be the passport number; multiple
passport numbers will not be accepted. It should not contain name, phone
number, id number, name of company etc.
vi.
If the group of
applicants wish to schedule appointment on different dates then separate cash
deposits must be made using the passport number of the primary applicant in
that group.
