New Visa Application Procedure at the Consulate General of
France in Johannesburg
With effect from 1st November 2008 every applicant (6 years and above) is
required to apply in person at the office of the Consulate General of France
at: Standard Bank Building, 3rd Floor, 191 Jan Smuts avenue, Partown North,
Johannesburg.
The French Consulate would require minimum 3 working days (for South African
Citizens) from the date of appointment to decision the visa. Online
appointments can be scheduled on a first come first serve basis.
Applicants wishing to apply for a transit visa or a short stay visa up to 90
days are required to submit their applications after taking a prior appointment
online at http://fr.vfsglobal.za.com. The
Internet facility is available 24x7. Applicants can call our helpline number at
+27 (0) 82 234 4433; the phone-in facility is available 0800-1500,
Monday-Friday. Appointment can be scheduled online by the applicant only;
it cannot be scheduled at the call center .
There will be an appointment scheduling service charge of R110.00 inclusive of
VAT levied per application over and above the visa fees. The service charge is
payable in cash in advance before scheduling an appointment online. Applicants
need to wait 24 hours after depositing the service fee to be able to schedule
an appointment. Payments online via credit cards will at a later stage become
available.
